Can't believe it's taken me a whole month to get to this post (or rather 3 months, since this was from back in August. *sigh*). We went up to Seattle for a family reunion on my side - it was my parents 40th wedding anniversary. We had fun spending time with family (most of whom we don't see very often). We went to the beach. Here I am sitting with my bro-in-law Stephen (who is recreating a family joke with his hands).
Please ignore my pale skin (I can't help it). Here's Holland's first time on a ferry (you take a short like 3 minute ferry ride to the island beach we were going to). She was not a fan of it until the boat started to move and then she liked it.
And here's Holland playing in the sandy water.
The water was pretty shallow for a long way out, so Bryan took the kids out where the water got a little deeper. I like this picture because you can see the Cascade Mtns in the background - so pretty.

We also went to a local history museum in Monroe (where my parents live). The guys working there were really nice and made it fun for the kids. Not everything was hands on, but quite a few things were. Here's a tractor that spun a flag around when you pedaled.
And here's me driving a real tractor! First time and I'm already a pro ;) The guy in the background showed me how to work it. I've got videos of it too...we'll see if I get around to putting them up.
A really old Maytag washing machine with rollers on it to press out all of the water for faster drying (makes me grateful for my fancy front loading washer that plays a lovely song at the end of a cycle)

We did s'mores one night too
We also took some family pictures. Oh goodness - I love the grandparents with the grandkids shot. You can almost never get a good picture with everyone looking, but you do get plenty of funny moments. Holland had a confused look on her face the whole time, and here she is looking at grandpa wondering "what are you laughing at?", while the 2 crying kids are brother and sister and were clearly not ok with the idea of this picture. And Mabry, the baby on grandma's lap is trying to figure out what the other kid is crying about. And oh my - LOTS of cheesy kid smiles that don't look natural. LOVE IT.
We did some other stuff too (sorry, no more pictures) and the kids had fun playing with each other. On the way back home to Utah we stopped at the Boise Temple so Bryan could go to the mission home, which is right next door (and Bryan served his mission there). It's closed for construction right now, so this was as close as we could get.
We also went to Big Jud's and Bryan found his pictures from when he did the 1 pound challenge on his mission.
Big Jud's has also been featured on Man Vs. Food
It was a great trip and we were so glad we were able to spend time with my family!
